Motorcycle, ATV, Boat, and Golf Cart Insurance in Scottsdale

A street bike, a side-by-side, a boat on a trailer, and a golf cart in a gated community are not “covered because I have car insurance.” Personal auto is built for registered cars and trucks. The toys need their own conversation — sometimes a motorcycle policy, sometimes recreational, sometimes an endorsement, sometimes a hard no until we see the engine size and where you ride.

If it is in the garage or on a trailer in Fountain Hills and we do not know about it, assume it is not covered.

Motorcycles (street)

Arizona still wants liability on a motorcycle you operate on public roads. The state auto minimum conversation (25/50/15) is the legal floor for motor vehicles — it is not a good liability limit if you cause a serious injury.

A motorcycle policy typically includes:

  • Liability
  • Uninsured / underinsured motorist (offered; understand it before you reject it)
  • Physical damage (comprehensive and collision) if you want the bike repaired or totaled at a real value
  • Sometimes accessory coverage, if you have money in pipes, bags, or electronics
  • Medical payments — bikes and body parts are a bad mix

Tell us:

  • Street, sport, cruiser, touring, dual-sport
  • ABS, experience, any MSF or equivalent course
  • Who else rides it
  • Whether it is a weekend bike or a commute down Scottsdale Road
  • Custom work and lienholder

We will not invent a premium for a Harley vs a sportbike in a blog post. The bike and the rider file set the price.

If you also need the cars in the household, quote them together: Scottsdale auto insurance.

ATVs, UTVs, and side-by-sides

North Scottsdale, Carefree, Cave Creek, and weekend trips off the pavement are normal here. The insurance is not “the homeowners will take it.”

Homeowners policies may give limited coverage for small off-road machines, then stop. Larger UTVs, riding off premises, or carrying passengers for fun is how people find the exclusion.

We want to know:

  • Engine size / model
  • Titled or not
  • Where it is used (private land, trails, desert, HOA streets)
  • Whether it is ever on a public road
  • Storage (garage, lot, desert place)

If the machine is really a business unit (tour, ranch, job site), that can become commercial. See Scottsdale commercial insurance.

Boats and personal watercraft

Lakes around the Phoenix area and a trailer in the driveway still count. A boat policy / inland marine recreational form is how you cover:

  • Liability on the water
  • Physical damage to the hull
  • Trailering (the trailer may need its own mention)
  • Watersports liability if you tow skiers or a tube — say it
  • Motors and equipment

Homeowners “watercraft” limitations are easy to blow through. Horsepower and length matter. So does a slip vs a driveway.

We do not need a sea story. We need the HIN, motor details, and where it is stored.

Golf carts and neighborhood EVs

Gated and golf communities around Scottsdale, Gainey Ranch, and Fountain Hills are full of carts. Some are street-legal. Some are not. Some are 25 mph neighborhood vehicles.

Questions:

  • Gas or electric
  • Speed and street-legal status
  • HOA or city operation rules
  • LSV / VIN
  • Whether kids drive it in the community
  • Custom lifts and aftermarket

Sometimes a golf cart can be scheduled. Sometimes it needs a separate recreational policy. Sometimes the HOA wants liability proof. Send the HOA rule.

A cart used to run a resort or a course is commercial, not personal.

Umbrella and the toys

Recreational units are exactly the claims that blow through a small liability limit. If we add a bike or a boat, we look at Scottsdale umbrella insurance and whether the umbrella will sit over that policy. Some umbrellas want the toy scheduled and the underlying at a set limit. Some will not take a performance bike. Disclose it.

How we place recreational

Farmers first. We are a Farmers Insurance agency. Colby Neal is a third-generation Farmers agent. Motorcycle and recreational are on the list of products this office quotes.

If Farmers cannot write the unit — age of rider, bike type, claims, or a watercraft they will not take — we use other markets we access, including Kraft Lake carriers such as Foremost, Pacific Specialty, Progressive, National General, Mercury, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Branch, Stillwater, and Steadily, depending on the toy.

Bristol West is more of an auto-market tool for some drivers. Recreational may or may not belong there. We will say which company we are using.

Amanda manages the office. Dani is CSR. Jordan works quotes with us. English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Licensed in AZ, CA, OK, TX — useful if the boat lives part-year in another of those states.

What to have ready

  • Year, make, model, VIN/HIN
  • Value, extras, lienholder
  • Operator list and experience
  • Where it is stored and used
  • Current insurance or a lapse
  • The rest of the household (home, auto) if you want it quoted as a package
  • Any racing, livery, or rental use — if you rent the bike out, say so

Racing and “I let visitors ride it at the Airbnb” are underwriting problems. Scottsdale STRs already have a $500,000 liability rule; a guest on your ATV is a special kind of bad. See Scottsdale Airbnb insurance.

Call or text (480) 860-0860. Tell us what the unit is and whether you need a same-day binder for a purchase. That is the next step.

FAQ

Does my Scottsdale auto policy cover my motorcycle? Not as a motorcycle. You need a motorcycle policy (or a company that writes it as a separate vehicle type). Call (480) 860-0860.

Is a golf cart covered under homeowners? Sometimes a limited amount, on premises, for smaller carts. Do not assume it. Community use and street-legal carts usually need a real quote.

Can you insure an ATV I only ride in the desert? Often yes, on a recreational policy. Use, engine size, and operators matter.

Will an umbrella cover a boat or bike claim? If the umbrella accepts that underlying policy and the use was disclosed. We check before we bind.

Do you only write Farmers? Farmers first. Other markets when Farmers cannot place the unit.
