Scottsdale commercial auto insurance

Service trucks and artisan vans. Personal auto will not cover job use.

A van with ladders, a service truck, or a car titled to the LLC is commercial auto. It is not “I already have personal auto.” Personal auto is picky about job use, deliveries, and vehicles owned by an entity. If the work cannot happen without the vehicle, quote it as commercial — local artisan and service use, not long-haul trucking.

What this office writes — and what we do not pretend to write here

This page is Scottsdale commercial auto for service trucks, artisan vans, contractor rigs, restaurant runners titled to the business, and small local fleets. It is not an over-the-road, long-haul, or interstate trucking lander. If you are pulling a 53-foot box across state lines, say that on the call so we can tell you whether we have a market or an honest no. Do not hide it as “errands.”

Personal auto will not reliably cover a vehicle used to earn money, a truck with contractor plates, or a unit owned by an LLC. Ride-share and delivery-app use have their own rules; some of that stays personal with an endorsement, and some of it does not. Tell us the truth about radius, cargo, and whether anyone is hired to drive.

  • VINs, GVW, and what is permanently attached (racks, lifts, tools)
  • Radius — local Valley vs statewide vs anything that looks like trucking
  • Drivers, licenses, and whether you need hired/non-owned
  • The business: contractor, restaurant, shop, property manager — see contractor insurance and the commercial guide
  • Employees in those vehicles — workers compensation is a separate requirement in Arizona
  • Certificates that ask for additional insured or waiver on the auto

Certificates and the GC’s auto exhibit

Same rule as contractor GL: send the insurance exhibit with the quote. Auto additional-insured and MCS-90-style wording are not decorations we type onto a personal ID card. If you need same-day proof to pick up a truck at a dealer, call before you are in the finance office.

How we place it

We are a Farmers agency. Colby Neal is a third-generation Farmers agent. Farmers commercial auto first when the radius and class fit. If Farmers cannot write the drivers, the use, or the vehicle type, we shop Kraft Lake markets such as Progressive, National General, Mercury, Liberty Mutual, Travelers, Branch, Stillwater, Foremost, Steadily, and Pacific Specialty, depending on the line. We will say which path we are on. We will not invent a fleet rate on this page.

Amanda, Dani, and Jordan handle a lot of the ID-card and cert traffic. English, Portuguese, and Spanish. Licensed AZ, CA, OK, TX if drivers or garaging cross those states. 10601 N Hayden Rd, Ste 112, Scottsdale, AZ 85260.

What to have on the call

  • Business name, FEIN, entity
  • Vehicle list and garaging
  • Driver list and any tickets
  • Radius and cargo
  • Current coverage or a lapse
  • The contract wording if a GC is waiting on a cert

Call or text (480) 860-0860. Tell us it is a service truck or artisan van, not a personal car. For the rest of the business file, use the commercial guide. For the crew, use the WC guide.

FAQ

Will my personal auto cover a work van?
Do not assume it. Entity-owned and job-use vehicles belong on commercial auto. Call (480) 860-0860.

Do you write long-haul trucking?
This page is local service and artisan use. If you are long-haul, say so — we will tell you if we have a market.

Do you only write Farmers?
Farmers first. Other Kraft Lake markets if Farmers cannot place the auto.

Radius, cargo, and the personal-auto exclusion

Most of the commercial auto we write from Hayden Road stays in the Valley: job sites, supply houses, a second location, a lunch run that is still in the business name. Statewide artisan use is still a conversation. As soon as the story sounds like freight, hired drivers you do not know, or nights on the interstate with a trailer that is not a contractor tool trailer, stop and say it. We would rather give an honest no than bind a service-van policy on a trucking risk.

Personal auto exclusions for business use are how claims die after a wreck on the way to a job. Entity title, lettering on the door, and tools in the bed are all facts the other carrier’s adjuster can see. If the house and the shop sit in one household, we can look at both so the umbrella and the certificates stay consistent. No invented fleet pricing. Call (480) 860-0860 with the VIN list and the radius.
