What we need to know about the cart

Gas or electric, speed, street-legal status, VIN or serial, and who drives it — including kids in the community — change the form. Sometimes a cart can be scheduled. Sometimes it needs a separate recreational policy. Sometimes the HOA wants liability only. Send the HOA rule. We will not guess what Gainey, DC Ranch, or a Fountain Hills association printed in this year’s packet.

• Make, model, speed, and whether it is titled as an LSV / NEV
• Where it is driven: course only, gated streets, or public roads
• Custom lifts, lights, and aftermarket that change value
• Operators, including teenagers
• Whether it is used for a resort, a course, or a business — that is commercial, not personal
• The HOA or management email asking for proof

Home, auto, and umbrella do not silently pick this up

Homeowners may give a limited amount for a small cart on premises, then stop. Auto is built for registered cars. If the cart is on community streets, do not assume either policy is enough.
